Grassroots communities in Nigeria are constantly deprived of access to basic human needs like health care, water, education, despite the fact that billions of naira are appropriated for the provision of health facilities, teaching aid, water and clean energy infastructure in these regions. Most times, these funds do not reach the communities. The conversation — spurred further into the spotlight by the grassroots We Need Diverse Books campaign — has recently gone beyond looking at the diversity of characters within books by focusing on diversity of the authors behind the books as well.

The voices of North Dakotans from a century ago have been brought back to life in a book published by two Bismarck men. “North Dakota Voices of The Great War,” is based on more than a thousand letters written by North Dakotans who served in World War I. Originally researched several years ago by University of Mary students, the writings were put together into a stage play.   The voices in this collection are strong and compassionate, and their reflections are honest and open-hearted. Readers will feel challenged, inspired and held by this critically important book. It will surely inspire change.” —Beth Richie, author of Arrested Justice: Black Women, Violence, and America's Prison Nation.

It takes a village: Grassroots orgs can provide the innovation our school system needs right now "Now more than ever, this moment calls for the district to engage with and learn from community leaders that operate with a youth-first and equity-centered mindset," writes Impact Hub Baltimore Events & Communications Irene Bantigue.   “No More Heroes is a vitally useful intervention in the current political moment. Spot-on analysis, gripping examples, and a clear, urgently necessary argument about how we need to re-think harmful ‘rescue’ frames and the leadership models they foster will make this book immensely useful to contemporary movements.
