        Exceptional writing about a place and time I knew little about. This book left me wanting to learn more about tea plantations--especially at the time this book takes place when the owners were beginning to transition management to Indian citizens. I even tried to locate a book the author used for research and have not been able to get a copy. The majority of industrial plantations relies on exotic species as they are more attractive from a profitability perspective, with a broad knowledge base. Most existing plantations can be described as simple, in terms of purpose, composition, structure and management (Kanowski, ).
